A few frequently asked questions about our chocolates. If you have a question that isn't listed, please feel free toย contact us.
How long will my chocolates last?
Our chocolates will remain in perfect condition between 4-5 months.
What is the ideal temperature to store chocolates and can I put them in the fridge to keep cool?
The recommended temperature is between 12-18ยฐ Celsius. Most domestic fridges operate around 3-5ยฐ Celsius and at this temperature chocolates can "Bloom". This is evident by the cocoa butter fat being drawn to the surface layer.
It can make the normally shiny and smooth surface change to a dull greyish colour. The chocolates will remain edible despite the appearance being discoloured.
It is possible to prevent this from occurring by placing the chocolate box into a sealed plastic bag first. This will prevent moisture contaminating the contents.
What happens in hot weather?
We take great care to ensure that your order reaches you in perfect condition. We store all our chocolates in a fully air conditioned room and will hold all orders until the last post, when the temperature is beginning to cool.
All orders taken during a heat wave will have to be sent on a next day service and should reach you before 12.00 noon.
Are your chocolates suitable for people with a nut allergy?
No, all our handmade chocolates are made in the same factory that use nuts in certain processes and it is therefore possible for small traces of nuts to enter the production of chocolates that contain no nuts.
Are your chocolates suitable for people with dairy or gluten allergies?
No, regrettably they are not. For this reason we stock specialist products such asย Booja Boojaย andย Moo Free. Take a look at ourย dairy free chocolatesย section for details.
Does your chocolate originate from Fair Trade suppliers?
Our suppliers are careful to source their couveture from approved farming origins. These plantations are from exactly the same source as Free Trade.
However the cost of tracability and certification has made it uneconomical to carry the Free Trade logo, but we are assured that our cacao is sourced from producers who do not exploit their work force.
What if the package and / or contents are damaged?
Whilst we take every precaution to ensure that your gift is packed as carefully as possible, we do rely on the post and parcel delivery services handling your package with care. Occasionally there are mishaps, and in this event please retain your package and any external wrapping for examination.
Pleaseย contact usย immediately and email a photograph that clearly shows the damage to the outer packaging and another image of the product. If the damage has been sustained in transit we will forward a replacement providing we have evidence to assist us making a claim against the Royal Mail.
